Hi Darlena - maybe you can find a student's study guide of the Civil War at a teachers' supply store or online resource. For example, this site http://www.educationworld.com/a_lesson/lesson/lesson186.shtml features a number of different activities that you can modify to suit your patients' abilities. The Photo Sharing/Story Telling, Cost of War, even making some recipes (or just tasting!) might be good activities.
This Gettyburg site details what the soldiers did to combat boredom - you might also get some ideas from that. Many board games, whittling, music and other activities that are interesting.

It might also be interesting to rent some of Ken Burns' do...entary "The Civil War" and show segments from that, and host a discussion group. I'm sure many of your residents will have war stories of their own.
Good luck! Please let us know what you come up with.
-- Contributed by: TK2I'm looking for activities for seniors in wheelchairs related to the Civil War. We'd like to have a "Civil War Day" and have the residents play some physical games reminicent of the Civil War that are not too taxing. Any ideas?
-- Contributed by: darlenaHi Tyler - your Mental Vitality class sounds like a lot of fun! I'm not sure I understand your question, however - you want a website that will help you create a definition or summary for the class? What is the definition or summary for - a brochure or a flyer or something? Please give us more infomation and we'll see how we can help.
-- Contributed by: TK2I am starting a class in a few months for a group of senior citizens. The class is called mantal vitality and we do alot of word puzzles and memory games, etc. I have been trying to come up with a definition or summary for the class but I am drawing a blank. Do you know of any good sites on the web that might be able to help me out? Thanks.
