Thanks for pointing that out, June. Since this article was written, that option has apparently changed. We always confirm links before putting them in articles, and previously, one did not need to be a member to search for a local chapter.
It could be that in order to protect the contact information of chapter leaders/members, RHS requires a membership so that not just everyone can see that information.
Membership is $20 a year, I believe. So I suppose if someone wants to join RHS, they'll pay the membership and then have full access to the RHS site.
-- Contributed by: TK2Just a note in response to TK2's comment about going to the RHS website and entering your locale to find a chapter. You can't do that unless you are already a registered member (which costs)of the RHS.
-- Contributed by: JuneHi there! If you look under the bold heading Activities in the above article, you'll notice a blue link that starts a sentence with Find a Chapter. Click on those words.
This will connect you to the RHS webpage where you can enter in your locale and find some ladies in your area, or learn how to start a chapter of your own. Have fun! Tell us how it goes!
-- Contributed by: TK2I would like to find some ladies in the neighborhood to start our own club.
-- Contributed by: I think this is a great thing! The Red Hat Society is a fun and fabulous group of ladies to join! I personally have discovered unique event ideas at RedHatsandMore.Com. The website also offers a wide selection of red hat apparel and red hat accessories!

-- Contributed by: TK2Two years ago my mom, in her seventies, was sitting home alone with nothing to do. I decided to start a Red Hat Society chapter, Red Hat Rockettes of Haltom City, Texas, to get my mom out and having some fun and companionship. Now two years later, my mom has started her own Red Hat Society Christian ladies group and fellowship within the Red Hat Rockettes chapter! You go, Mom!!!
Mom inspired me to create my own Christian owned and operated online red hat retail store, Red Hat Lady Shop at RedHatLadyShop.com
Bonnie, thanks so much for sharing. I certainly hope you let us know about your Red Hat experiences! My 79-year-old mother-in-law and her 82-year-old sister just have the best time in this group, as does a friend of mine who is 59.
I remember going to a movie not too long ago and almost the entire theater was filled with Red Hat ladies, just laughing and having a grand time! It was so much fun to see.
-- Contributed by: TK2My mom who lives in Chicago asked me if I had ever heard of the red hat ladies and I had not. So I thought I'd better find out. I am a Christian minister; sounds like a fun group of gals! I believe that God Almighty created us to have an abundent Life; and to enjoy the fruit of our labors. I believe it is a beautiful thing to extend compassion and love to one another. Thats what life is all about; reaching out one to another, having fun, enjoying life. Laughing, caring and always offering a shoulder to lean on, having ears to hear and eyes to see when a freind needs a moment to express their most precious thoughts. Life has its ups and downs; what a wonderful blessing it is to have a circle of friends.
