Hi John - for your security, I have removed your address and phone number from your post.

The best place to start looking for senior activities is at a library or senior center. Click on this blue link - http://www.fortbendseniors.org/ for the Fort Bend Senior Center website. There's also a senior center in nearby Richmond.

On the Fort Bend libraries page, http://www.fortbend.lib.tx.us/ there's a calendar that lists the various events happening at the different library locations. Maybe that would give you some additional ideas. Good Luck!

Hi Fadumo, you'll have to be more specific (not just for my understanding, but for the funding sources as well). When you say "recreational place", what do you mean exactly?

-- Contributed by: TK2

I am looking for funds to make a recreational place for the senior citizens, who are idle and bored .

Mary and (enter!), those are fantastic ideas! Thank you so much for sharing, and do come back with other fun things to try.

(I've always wanted to go to Newfoundland! Guess I know now to go in the summer!)

Seniors in our community ages 50 to 85 years old love to gather together in the Seniors building to learn how to paint pictures, A qualified artist shows them how to paint trees, the sky, rocks and son on.the Seniors have lots of laughs as they attempt to learn the skills. Many of them discover a talent they never knew they had!!! It is a great way to spend the long winter months in Port auPort, Newfoundland, Canada!!!

Quilt Making and sewing projects Have a group put a quilt together as a fund raising project for their club.Or have each person make their own smaller project such as potholders or a handbag.
